Welcome to the Bahá’í Faith in Byron Shire

Bahá’u'lláh announced in 1863 that He is God's Messenger for this age. His teachings and sacred writings are the basis of the Bahá’í Faith. The principle of the oneness of humankind is the pivot around which all the teachings of Bahá’u'lláh revolve.

Prayer and Devotion

Byron Bahá’ís help to build a vibrant community life in our neighbourhoods by holding regular devotional meetings. Bahá’ís with neighbours and friends gather to attend small prayer sessions in diverse settings such as homes and public venues. The aim is to come together in praying, meditating, and reading spiritual writings in a creative and uplifting way. You are welcome to simply sit, meditate and enjoy the spiritual atmosphere, or take a more active role. Music is often a component of these gatherings.Contact us to find out about Bahá’í devotional meetings in your neigbourhood.

Study Circles

The purpose of Bahá’í study circles is to provide participants with the knowledge, spiritual insights and skills to enable them to contribute to the betterment of society, starting with their own neighbourhood. This is done through systematic study of a sequence of courses based on the Bahá’í Writings. The first in the sequence of seven books is called Reflections on the Life of the Spirit. It examines spiritual matters such as prayer, meditation, life after death and the development of the soul. Study circles are held in an uplifting environment conducive to the spiritual empowerment of individuals, who come to see themselves as active agents of their own learning. Study circles feature participatory learning, involving discussion with others, and the use of the arts. Contact us to find out about Bahá’í study circles in your area.

Children's Spiritual Education

Providing spiritual education of children has long been an element of the culture of the Bahá’í community. We hold regular children's classes that are open to all children, subject to parental approval. Bahá’í children’s classes aim to nurture the hearts and minds of children. The emphasis is on helping children learn to reflect on and apply spiritual principles, such as love, unity and justice, to their own lives and to the lives of those around them. Based on the teachings of Bahá’u'lláh, the Founder of the Bahá’í Faith, the classes seek to inspire in children a love of God and His Messengers, and of humanity in all its diversity. The classes include short lessons, activities to build friendship, games, stories, art and music. Contact us to find out about classes in your local area.
